NOTE: this does not have enough depth for regular coat hangers, unless two front-to-back rails are put in. It was designed as a coat hook cupboard. See dimensions below. Small antique Edwardian hardwood single wardrobe or hall cupboard with carved panels and central door with mirror. Made in the 1910s probably; the timber is hard to identify but is similar to satinwood. Cornice above with shaped crest, drawer section at the base. The carved panels have a vaguely Art Nouveau flower motif. Original metal handles. The turned feet are a later addition. Inside there's a rail going across but, as explained above, you'd only get small hangers on it. Still plenty of uses for it though. The cornice and drawer section remove for transport. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid enough; some bowing to the floor inside and some minor splits in the side but nothing's moving. There's no key for the door but the catch holds it shut. Some old wormholes in the sides: long gone but we've treated the interior just in case. Cosmetically there are various dings, marks, scratches and scuffs, and the shellac polish finish is quite patchy here and there (see pics). The whole piece could be stripped and refinished but it has a certain worn charm as it is: we've kept the price reasonable anyway. 102cm wide (at top) x 45cm x 193cm high (height behind crest 181cm; internal depth 34cm)
